Super League: Fans of Chelsea Football club stormed the road which leads to the Stamford Bridge stadium to block the team bus from gaining access to the playing ground.
The Chelsea Supporters’ Trust slammed their club over their involvement in the European Super League in a statement released on Monday.
The move earlier today was in protest to the just cancelled European Super League which was announced by owners of 12 selected clubs across Europe.
Chelsea legend Petr Cech was forced to intervene as tensions threatened to boil over during the protest
“Let people sort this out, but this is not the thing,” Cech – who is a performance and technical advisor at Chelsea – could be heard saying in a video posted on Twitter.
“Let the people in. Let the bus go in. Give people time.”
It later emerged that Chelsea’s players were stuck at their hotel due to protests. According to The Athletic’s Simon Johnson, Brighton couldn’t arrive at the stadium on time either.
It’s understood this is why Cech came out to plead with the fans to move along and allow the team coaches to make their way inside the concourse at the Blues’ west London ground.
