Samuel Kalu, the Super Eagles midfielder whose mother was kidnapped by gunmen in Aba, has pleaded for her release.
Reports say the gunmen stopped his mother’s vehicle while she was driving and ordered the children out of it before taking her away.
According to a source, the kidnappers initially demanded a sum of N50million before they can release the footballer’s mother. However the sum has now been upped with believe they can get more than that from Samuel Kalu who plays for Girondins Bordeaux.
Speaking from his base in France, Samuel Kalu urged the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to help him secure the release of his beloved mother.
“I have been in constant touch with them and I’m hoping they let her go soon as the situation is becoming worrisome to me.
“I’m currently in France but if by Tuesday (today) or Wednesday the situation does not change then I will have to return to Nigeria and try to find a solution myself,” Samuel Kalu said.
