Lateef Jakande death: Nigerians mourn death of former Lagos Governor death

Lateef Jakande dead: Nigerians have taken to social media to mourn the death of the first civilian governor of Lagos State.

According to multiple sources, Lateef Jakande died in the early hours of Thursday, February 11, 2021.

His death was announced by Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Twitter who said

”With gratitude to God for a worthy life well spent in the service of Lagos State, Nigeria and humanity, I announce the death of a venerable statesman, outstanding politician, public administrator and the first Civilian Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande,”

Mourning his death on social media, Nigerians wrote;

@OgbeniDipo: Rest in peace Alhaji Lateef Jakande. A true leader, builder and statesman. He built so much in such a little time. A leader worthy of emulation.

Omojuwa: Lateef Jakande. Leader. Legend. May his soul rest in peace.

Alhaji Lateef Jakande built massive infrastructure in Lagos while Chief Obafemi Awolowo invested massively in the education sector across South West Nigeria.
