The Supreme court made the judgement barely 24-hours to Lyon’s inauguration.
A ve man panel of the apex court presided by Justice Mary Peter-Odili nullied the election of Lyon on the grounds that his deputy, Senator biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo presented false information to INEC in aid of his qualification for the November 16 governorship election in Bayelsa State.
The apex court ordered INEC to issue fresh certificates to the candidates of the party with
the next highest votes and with the required constitutional spread of votes in the results of
the election, which are the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidates.
